Comparative Study on the Various Hydrolysis and Fermentation Methods of Chlorella vulgaris Biomass for the Production of Bioethanol

چکیده

One of the microalgae that can be potentially used to produce bioethanol is Chlorella vulgaris, as it rich in carbohydrates. However, carbohydrates C. vulgaris cannot converted directly into ethanol. This study aimed investigate chemical and enzymatic hydrolysis which subsequently followed by fermentation. The catalysts were hydrochloric acid, sodium hydroxide, potassium while enzymes mixture alpha-amylase + glucoamylase, cellulase, glucoamylase cellulase. hydrolysate obtained from was fermented through Separate Hydrolysis Fermentation (SHF), one Simultaneous Saccharification (SSF), both processes S. cerevisiae. After undergoing five hours (using glucoamylase), maximum glucose concentration 9.24 ± 0.240 g/L or yield 81.39%. At same time conditions substrate on hydrolysis, up 9.23 0.218 with a 73.39% using 1 M acid. These results indicate less effective compared hydrolysis. Furthermore, after 48 fermentation, ethanol produced SHF SSF fermentation methods 4.42 4.67 g/L, respectively, implying producing more than method.
